Danielle Nathan spent years building a career in corporate banking and software engineering — solid work, but not the kind that left room for the parts of her that wanted to make things. Based in Buffalo, NY, she's always been drawn to nature, animals, and travel, and somewhere in that pull toward the wider world, she found her way to reinvention — not just of herself, but of objects other people had already decided to let go of.
Danielle calls herself the Boho Banker, and her art is built entirely from reclaimed jewelry — sourced from estate sales, thrift stores, garage sales, wherever inspiration happens to turn up. Each piece starts as a pile of orphaned beads, brooches, and charms with no obvious connection to each other, and ends as a silhouette: a fish, a bear, a skull. Every individual item is chosen and placed by hand, close enough together to form a recognizable shape, loose enough that you can still see where each piece came from if you look.
That tension is the whole idea. Danielle sees her work as a small stand-in for how people, and nature, and pretty much everything, actually function — made of distinct, unrepeatable parts that only add up to something larger when they're allowed to stay different instead of being smoothed into sameness. Nothing in her pieces was melted down or disguised. It was just given somewhere new to belong.
