Danielle Nathan doesn't melt anything down. Every piece in this collection — each bead, brooch, charm, and stray earring — stays exactly as it was, hand-placed into a silhouette that only comes together when you step back. Get close, and you can still trace where each individual piece came from. Step back, and it's a fish. A lobster. A bear built entirely out of somebody else's jewelry box.

That tension is the whole point. Danielle sees it as a small stand-in for how people — and nature, and pretty much everything — actually work: made of distinct, unrepeatable parts that only add up to something larger when they're allowed to sit together, differences intact. Nothing here was smoothed into sameness to fit the shape. The shape found room for all of it instead.

Danielle’s hummingbird is in layered shades of indigo, periwinkle, slate, and silver, creating a rich, almost twilight palette. Larger marbled beads give the piece texture and depth, while faceted crystals catch the light without overwhelming the softer tones.

As with many of Danielle’s pieces, the details reward a closer look. A small charm engraved with "wings" nestles into one wing, balanced by a tiny silver fish on the other. A heart-shaped medallion marked "Mother" rests at the center of the bird, while a delicate chain trails from the beak, adding a subtle sense of motion. Smaller vintage findings, beads, and charms are woven throughout, ensuring there’s always another detail to discover.

Mounted on an 8" vintage speckled enamelware plate with its original worn black rim and the gentle patina of age, the piece celebrates both the history of its materials and the artistry of giving them a second life. A hanger on the back allows it to be displayed on a wall or rested on a stand, where the hummingbird appears suspended in mid-flight.

Danielle Nathan spent years building a career in corporate banking and software engineering — solid work, but not the kind that left room for the parts of her that wanted to make things. Danielle calls herself the Boho Banker, and her art is built entirely from reclaimed jewelry — sourced from estate sales, thrift stores, garage sales, wherever inspiration happens to turn up. Each piece starts as a pile of orphaned beads, brooches, and charms with no obvious connection to each other, and ends as a silhouette: a fish, a bear, a skull. Every individual item is chosen and placed by hand, close enough together to form a recognizable shape, loose enough that you can still see where each piece came from if you look.
